Entergy Louisiana Provides Regional Economic Development Grant to SLEC

THIBODAUX, LA.Entergy Louisiana provided a $110,000 grant to South Louisiana Economic Council as part of the company’s efforts to support regional economic development across the state.

Entergy’s investment helps to fund SLEC’s economic development goals, including business recruitment and retention and workforce development, among other initiatives, in the Bayou Region – specifically the parishes of Assumption, Lafourche, St. Mary, and Terrebonne.

“The Bayou region is consistently ranked one of the strongest regional economies in the nation thanks to our significant natural resources, strong college systems and dedicated workforce,” said Vic Lafont, SLEC president and CEO. “The support from partners like Entergy Louisiana fuels our ability to both maintain and advance this ranking. We are grateful for partnerships that help us provide key business resources within our four-parish community.”

Through its Business and Economic Development team, Entergy Louisiana works with state and local government agencies, economic development organizations and community partners to attract new businesses and jobs to Louisiana.

Since 2010, Entergy has actively participated in 146 announced economic development projects in Louisiana, totaling nearly $83 billion in capital investments and approximately 20,000 new direct jobs. For 11 years running, Site Selection magazine has named Entergy Corporation as one of the nation’s Top 10 Utilities in economic development.

In addition, Southern Business & Development magazine ranked Louisiana number two in the South for the strongest economic development results during 2018. Also,  in their 15th annual rankings, Business Facilities magazine placed Louisiana within the nation’s top 10 states for overall economic growth potential, and ranked the state high in several other categories.
