THIBODAUX, LA — Delegations from the Bayou Region, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge recently returned from a canvasing tour of Panama City, Panama. Members of the South Louisiana Economic Council (SLEC) including Vic Lafont, SLEC President & CEO, Hugh Caffery, SLEC Board Member, and Nester Navarro, SLEC International Consultant attended the workshop: Panama — A Tale of Two Coasts.
Louisiana’s Southeast Super-Region completed this canvas workshop to better understand the operations and practices of another ‘super-region’. Previously, canvas workshops have been completed in Phoenix-Tucson and Tampa-Orlando.
Delegates visited cities in both northern and southern Panama, including Panama City and Colon. Other visits included time at the Panama Canal along with presentations from Panama officials. “Participating in this canvasing workshop allowed SLEC to better understand the economic opportunities between Panama and Louisiana’s Gulf South,” said Lafont, “Our two regions share similarities which we plan to explore as expansion opportunities moving forward.”
We are pleased to offer this new experience that expands the Canvas Workshop platform, with an international theme. The dates for the Super-Region Canvas Workshop are September 20 – September 23, 2016, and the cost of the trip is $2,300 per guest. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity and be amongst the first to experience this economically and culturally rich international nexus, along with your Louisiana peers.
