Terrebonne Parish is a coastal parish that boasts a large expanse of estuaries rich with marine life and reserves of oil and natural gas. It is also at the convergence of five natural bayous, the Intracoastal Waterway and the Houma Navigational Canal, all of which provide either direct or eventual routes to the Gulf.

Access to Terrebonne Parish is made through U.S. Interstate 49 running east and west. Louisiana Highways 20, 24, 183 and 311 provide north-south access into the parish and into the metro area of Houma. The Intracoastal Waterway and the Houma Navigational Canal provide direct access to the Gulf of Mexico and are home to the extensive oil and gas fabrication, service and support and marine transportation companies that call Terrebonne home.

Terrebonne Parish enjoys an exceptional quality of life with abundant outdoor activities like fishing, hunting and water sports. The parish is a retail center with most major retailers present. A diverse and progressive medical community can also be found in Houma, including one of the largest cardiovascular practices in the United States. Terrebonne is within easy reach of New Orleans and its extensive dining, shopping and entertaining options.
